Dog Christmas Safety Survival Guide

Dog Christmas

Christmas is coming (read that in a Jon Snow voice, of course) in fact, it’s only a week until Christmas Day.  It’s Ember’s first Christmas with us and while Christmas is supposed to be stressful, with some fun too, it’s obviously more stressful when you are a dog owner.  In order to make sure that Ember has the safest first Christmas, I’ve been making a list, and checking it twice. So I thought I would share with you to make sure the Christmas period goes smoothly for your dog and you....

Pure Pet Food

Last year Ember was lucky enough to try some of Pure Pet Food’s Meaty Sweetie Treats.  These treats were a perfect introduction to the Pure Pet Food brand, so I was very excited for Ember to try some of their food. Ember is doing really well recently on her current food Guru, but we have been wanting to add a little bit of wet food to her evening meal, I instantly knew Pure Pet Food was the best first option. The food we are lucky enough to try is Chicken Dinner, which is grain free and designed for sensitive dogs, perfect for Ember as she has quite a sensitive tummy....

Ending Puppy Farms with Pup Aid

On Saturday 1st September, Pup Aid hosted their annual free dog show in Primrose Hill, London.  The aim of this event and Pup Aid as an organisation, is to simply put a stop to the demand for puppies, which leads to puppy farming.  They do this by setting their event up to raise awareness for responsible breeding practices and promoting the amazing dogs available for rescue.   Puppy farms are unfortunately still running all around the world where both the breeding dogs and their puppies are kept in horrible conditions, the puppies are then sold in mass and the mumma dogs will go on to have more litters than the maximum frequency...

Summer Tips for Dogs

Summer is on it’s way, which usually in the UK means a few hot sunny days followed by clouds and rain, but this year has been a little different with the current heatwave we are enjoying. However, with this sunshine, it’s important to remember how our dogs get affected by the heat.  Here are a few tips to help keep your dog cool for the summer....

Dogs Die in Hot Cars

Hot Cars

We’ve had the pleasure of a heatwave these past fews days and while most people have been enjoying sensibly it with their four-legged friends, the same sad stories involving dogs suffering in the heat have been hitting the news.   Despite warnings from Dogs Trust and The RSPCA, to name just two, that Dogs Die in Hot Cars, many dogs have been rescued from overheating after being left in hot cars by owners.  It’s hard to imagine any dog lover leaving their dog in a car on a hot day but it, unfortunately, happens all too often.  The matter of the fact is, it’s never okay to leave your dog in a...

Meaty Sweeties | Pure Pet Food

When I first found out about Pure Pet Food on Twitter I was intrigued by the unique process they use to make their dog food. So when Mat from Pure contacted me about Ember trying some of their treats I had to say yes. That and the fact that Ember loves food (of course)....

Spring Plant Safety for Dogs

Spring Plant Safety for Dogs

Spring is coming and along with it, hopefully nice weather, but also spring flowers – some of which may be poisonous to our pets.  There are several common plants which we need to be cautious of, along with symptoms which come with poisoning.  Dogs can be poisoned by eating just part of the plant, leaves or bulbs from the plant and heavy pollinated plants could disperse on their back and be licked off.  Here’s a handy picture guide to some common poisonous plants which you may come across this year, along with some useful information....
