Neoh and Nobo Review

- Review, Treats

A few weeks ago, Ember tried some Neoh and Nobo Banana and Turmeric treats, you can find our first impressions here.  Long story short she loved them, so when Neoh and Nobo officially launched I ordered the rest of the collection straight away.   Neoh and Nobo’s brand aesthetic is everything and their website is so fresh and modern, with plenty of information about their treats.   Along with information about the brand and treats, there is also information about how they are made, the ingredients they use along with their benefits and let’s not forget their eco seal (paw print) of approval.

Neoh and Nobo’s treats are all made with natural and ethical, not forgetting healthy ingredients and the brand is created in memory of their dog Neoh.  All the ingredients are human grade and ethically sourced, the treats are made in small batches which helps to ensure quality and the packaging used is environmentally friendly too.

Why Vegetarian + Veggie Treats for Dogs

- Cruelty Free, Lifestyle

How exciting is it that there is a whole week dedicated to vegetarians!? Around a year ago I made the, maybe mad for some, decision to go vegetarian. I went from being a massive bacon and burger lover to being completely turned off by meat.  There are a few resins why I decided to go vegan and why I have begun to think more compassionately about the food I consume.  This isn’t going to be a ‘shoving my beliefs down your throats’ kind of post, but hopefully it will inspire someone.  Plus I’ve included some of Ember’s favourite veggie dog treats at the end. China Ban Dog Meat Sales

- Activism

How amazing is the news that China have banned dog meat from being sold to coincide with the Yulin Festival!? They are planning to “prohibit restaurants, street vendors and market traders from selling dog meat at the event.” The ban should come in on June 15, one week before the festival even begins! This is a massive step in getting this inhumane event banned. So while we celebrate this we can also make enough noise towards getting the whole festival stopped.

The Yulin Festival is not a traditional event it was started in 2010 by dog meat traders trying to boost sales. Around 10,000 – 15,000 dogs and cats are killed each year during the festival, many of which are pets stolen from homes. They are treated in the most horrendous way, as it is believed the more adrenaline fuelled the meat, the tastier is it to eat.

Buuut, if we all stand together and make enough noise, we can end this inhumane event once and for all.

How Dogs Help Mental Health

- Mental Health

I’ve always been an anxious person and have suffered from panic attacks and OCD, stemming from when my dad was first diagnosed with blood cancer.  Before Ember came into my life, I had only heard about the healing powers of dogs, not just physical health but mental health too.  I had no idea how much Ember would change my life.  Just seeing her face and wagging tail is enough to brighten up any day.  She helps me get out of myself and I have met and spoken to a lot more people just thanks to her.  Plus she never judges me, no matter what I talk to her about.  I like to call her my therapist with 4 legs.  I owe her so much, for making my life so much more positive and happy, I want to make sure she knows just how much I appreciate her.

For Mental Health Awareness Week, I have compiled a list of ways dogs help improve humans mental health. Read More

Spring Harmony | Dogs and Wildlife

- Dog Life

Spring is the most enjoyable season for walks with Ember, I love being outside when the weather is warmer (hopefully soon, please). However, it is also the worst season and can become uncomfortable for dogs, owners and wildlife alike. Spring synergy with dogs and wildlife isn’t something which comes easy, but I’m fed up of being tarnished with the same brush as other, irresponsible dog owners.

Sarah from Twilight Bark wrote a post recently and her experience really resonated with me and inspired me to write this little post.  Go check out her open letter to dog owners here.
